How to Avoid Range Anxiety in an EV

Range anxiety eases when you replace a single optimistic range number with a repeatable charging routine and a backup plan.

Learn your own EV's typical energy use on familiar routes with your normal passenger load and climate-control settings. That experience is more useful than a single dashboard estimate or brochure range when you are planning a longer drive.

Make charging routine: start daily trips with enough energy for the day, identify reliable chargers near home and work, and keep your preferred charging-network apps and payment methods ready. On a road trip, plan a primary stop plus an alternative.

Use a healthy buffer rather than repeatedly arriving at very low state of charge. If wind, rain, traffic or terrain changes the expected consumption, slow down slightly and revise the plan early. The aim is not to chase maximum range; it is to have dependable options.
